I’m one of the Scientific Communications and Information Officers at Unique. I help create and update guides about rare chromosome and gene disorders, making sure they are easy to understand and useful for families. I also support members and professionals by explaining genetic test results, connecting families with shared experiences, and representing Unique at events and online. I’m passionate about making genetic information clear, supportive, and empowering.
I am a registered Clinical Scientist in Genomic Counselling with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). My career so far has combined clinical practice, education, and patient support. I started as a Learning Support Assistant at a special needs school, later became a Science Instructor at the same school, and then trained as a Genomic Counsellor through the NHS Scientist Training Programme.
During my genetic counselling training, I first heard about the brilliant work Unique does and asked to volunteer with them. This experience strengthened my passion for supporting families affected by rare chromosome disorders, and I am now delighted to work with Unique full time.
