Jude Allen

Community Contacts Coordinator

In March 2022, at seven months’ old, my daughter was diagnosed with a de novo 9p 23-24 deletion. The Unique leaflets we received at the time were a lifeline for us and the professionals involved in her care, providing much needed information, guidance and support at what was a very difficult time. That was the beginning of my journey into the wonderful world of Unique.

I joined the team in June 2026 as Community Contacts Coordinator. I coordinate a network of volunteers and members who provide peer support and run local events, using their lived experience to empower other families and reduce isolation.

I am passionate about ensuring that people feel informed, supported and connected; ultimately that they don’t struggle alone. I bring experience from working at other charities and in roles that have involved coordinating people and projects. I also speak French and spent 5 years working as a secondary school French teacher. Outside of work I play hockey and tennis and enjoy attempting to grow veggies on my allotment!
